Introducing our Mother’s Day candle collection, and giving you suggestions for gifts handmade by other Belgian makers
The older I am, the more I realise that it must have been far from easy for my mum when I was growing up, and that she has accomplished a huge job raising me up as a single mother. And the more I realise this, the more important it is to me to not ignore Mother’s Day. It's just a great opportunity to make your mother feel happy, appreciated, and put a smile on her face.
I don’t want to be sentimental listing out all the things that were not easy and that I appreciate. I want this post to be short and sweet, so that you can go browsing the below-mentioned Belgian makers’ shops and find the perfect gift for your mum. So I’ll get right to it.
Heart of Europe Candles Mother’s Day collection
For Mother’s Day, I have made cute pink, white and fuchsia rapeseed candles with little heart embeds. I loved making these designs, and if you follow our Facebook page or Instagram, you may have come across a series of “making of” videos, where I documented the process. I’ve also made one beeswax candle gift bag available in the collection, so that you can grab a quick pre-made gift option.
Every item in the Mother’s Day collection has the option of adding a Super Hero Mum special label for free. You just choose from a drop-down list, either a special label, or a neutral one (so that you can buy the candles as a gift to your friends too!).
The Candle of the Month for May will also be made in a similar style, though not exactly the same. If you’re a fan of our candles, our Candle of the Month subscription box may be just the thing for you. Every month you will receive a new gift set of our candles right to your door (or hand). You can choose the duration of your subscription, and you can give the subscription as a gift to someone else, too. From now on, the candles in the subscription box will be of exclusive designs, and will not be available separately in the shop, until there are candles of that same design left at the end of the month. (I make everything in limited batches and, especially for rapeseed candles, I cannot guarantee full selection of the same jars/colours/designs at at all times, as my shop still operates on a small scale.)
EU-wide shipping
I have decided to enable shipping of our candles to the whole EU for this occasion. You can select an option with, or without, tracking. I do realise shipping is not cheap (in fact, the real cost is actually often higher than what I charge for the service), but the option is there. If you’re not willing to pay that price (I understand), I encourage you to look for small local businesses in your destination country, and choose a gift from their selection. That’s what we’re doing for the in-laws in Canada!
